Setting up your shop

Products, options, stock, tax, shipping and discounts.

Requires the eCommerce plugin (and a plan that includes it).

In this order

  1. Attribute — the option types your products use (size, colour) and their values.
  2. Category — your product categories, and sub-categories if you need them.
  3. Tax Manage, Shipping Manage — how tax and delivery are calculated.
  4. Products — the products themselves.
  5. Coupon Manage — discount codes, if you want them.
  6. Inventory — stock levels once products exist.

A product that converts

  • Title and description — write for the customer, not for search engines; the SEO tab handles search separately.
  • Images — the first image is the one shown in listings. Use the same shape for every product so your grid lines up.
  • Price — and a compare-at price if you want a discount shown.
  • Stock — track it if you can run out; otherwise leave stock tracking off.
  • Meta / SEO tab — a specific meta title and description per product. Without it, every product page competes with your other pages using the same generic snippet.

The shop pages

General Settings → Page Settings decides which page is your shop, cart, checkout, account and order-tracking page. These are set up for you; if a shop page ever renders empty, this is the first place to check.
