What to do in your first 20 minutes, in the order that saves the most time.
Your site is already live on a yourname.sitelyx.co address with demo content in place. Nothing
you do below can break it: every page can be edited again, and every setting can be changed.
The order that works best
- Plugin Manager — switch on the features you plan to use (shop, events, jobs, knowledgebase…). A feature stays hidden until its plugin is active, and pages belonging to an inactive plugin will not open on the public site.
- Appearance → Theme Manage — pick the theme closest to your business. Changing it later is safe, but section designs differ between themes, so choose before you write a lot of content.
- General Settings → Basic Settings — site name, tagline, logo, favicon, contact details. The tagline matters more than it looks: it is used in your homepage title in search results.
- Pages — open your homepage and edit it in the page builder. Replace the demo text and images.
- Appearance → Menu Manage — set what appears in the header navigation.
- General Settings → SEO Settings — meta title, description and social share image.
- Custom Domain — point your own domain at the site once the content reads the way you want.
Replace the demo content
Demo content exists so the design looks finished while you work. It is placeholder text, and anything you leave behind is visible to visitors and to search engines. Look especially at:
- the homepage hero heading and paragraph
- the About and Contact sections (address, phone, email)
- the FAQ, testimonial and team entries
- every image that still shows a stock photo
